At AS this course focuses on Ancient Greece. In Unit 1 you learn about Athenian Democracy in the fifth century BC: how the Ancient Greeks created a new system of government for the world where each citizen was entitled to vote on even the most important issues of the day such as war. You study the history, politics and personalities of this period. In Unit 2 you read one of the best-loved works of classical literature, the Odyssey. The story follows Odysseus as he returns to his home following the Trojan War. On the way he encounters monsters, witches, seductive goddesses and the evil cyclops. It is a world full of mythology.
